For some reason, the stars always align each September so that I have a series of three weddings in a row. I’m not complaining, but you have to wonder whether the gods couldn’t spread them out a bit.

So for today and the next two days, I’m in bridal mode. Almost exclusively in Co. Kerry.

That means fairly late home, and a couple of hours prep for the next day, before I can relax.

I’ll post a quick (and very rough) favourite from each day as I go.

This is today’s:

Very nice Roger, love the composition and the contrasting emotions. 24mm?

    Thank you Allister!

Yes, 24mm, but I did crop it a smidge to take out a distraction on the left. I also corrected the verticals. I’m a bit silly that way.

Looks like someone was giving out!! Hence the rather stern faces of the 2 beauties. I love the contrasts of brides to be and bridesmaids just before they put on the dresses. The hair and makeup is perfect, yet they will be wearing the floppiest of sweaters, or in this case big fluffy dressing gowns :)
Such an irony in itself!! And you have captured it perfectly, aside from the contrast of the 2 girls and the little one bouncing with glee.
    Oh, and great photo :)

    Thank you Elaine.

You and Allister have picked up on something I only saw after the shot was taken. My initial reaction to the scene was: “Hey, cute kid jumping on the bed!” Only afterwards did I notice the girls.

To be honest, this raises an interesting question about documentary photography. The girls were in great form. The fraction of a second that it took to take the photograph suggests another reality. Something to explore further in a future blog post.
