More colour on the blog today. You’ll be wondering whether it’s been taken over by someone else. Fear not.
The photographs here are by Nicola Webster, a Dublin-based photographer. While Nicola isn’t a documentary photographer per se, she does have an eye for a moment. Moreover, she is able to capture it in colour. That is remarkably difficult to do. It’s hard enough marshaling a fluid and swift situation within your viewfinder, let alone having to do so with consideration to colour.
In the first two photographs below, the warmer colours of the skin tones win out over the colder blues, directing your eye to where the action is.
Similarly, in these two pictures, the reds in the bouquets help to draw your eyes to the key part of the photograph.
One of my goals for 2010 was to shoot and present more work in colour. I find it perplexing. Nicola’s work juggles colour beautifully. I’d give my eye teeth for that sort of vision.
